There are several ways to access the software you need to complete your coursework. Temporarily we have implemented remote login to the machines in the computer labs on campus. Our Virtual Lab allows access to applications using our virtual desktop infrastructure (Citrix). Our Linux machines have always been remotely accessible. Additionally, some software is available to be downloaded to personal computers and used off campus.

Remote Access to Computer Labs
During the time that campus computer labs are closed, we have been able to set up a remote desktop gateway for students to access the software they need to complete their projects and other classwork.
We do not plan to continue this service after resumption of regular campus access to students.
Remote Desktop Notes and Etiquette:
- Don’t stay logged on – you are sharing these computers with others - Log off when finished.
- Idle sessions will automatically logged off – make sure to save your work frequently.
- Make a note of the machine that you are using in case there are any questions or problems.
- If you get disconnected, try again
- Report problems (and successes) to admin@eng.auburn.edu – 334-844-2280
You can access the remote desktop portal from the following URL:
VPN
Connecting a Virtual Private Network (VPN) from your off-campus computer is required to access man campus services and software licenses.
The surge in demand for VPN connections caused performance problems in the first days of working from home.
Instructions and links for configuring the VPN may be found at the beginning of the VDI instruction page:

VDI – Virtual Lab
Our virtual lab is a portal that uses the Citrix receiver on your device (Windows, Mac, Linux, Tablet). You have access to many of the most common applications required for your classwork. Using the Virtual Lab, you can run a complete Windows desktop (less efficient) or only the specific application that you need for your work. Each of these allows you to access files in your Engineering home directory (H: drive) or general campus home directory (I: drive).
Successful VPN connection is required for access to the Virtual Lab.
Instructions and links may be found here:

Linux Lab Access
Any College of Engineering student can use the tux labs to access the Engineering Network from off-campus. Follow the links below to specific setup instructions. VPN connection is not required to access the Linux labs.
Setup for SecureCRT and Xming is described here.
Many software packages are available to students to install on their personal machines. When possible, running software on a local machine may be the more reliable than remotely accessing software. All Engineering packages listed here are available for Windows. A few are available for Apple computers. Instructions and links are provided below.
